Mother’s Day is coming soon. However, the current crisis has made it a little harder to celebrate the holiday as we usually would. For instance, you can’t just drive over to your mom’s house or even take her out for a Mother’s Day brunch. So, I decided to create a list of gifts that are not only affordable but that your mom will love too!
Subscriptions
1. Amazon Prime
One gift that you can give to your mom is an Amazon Prime subscription. And the great thing is that the membership covers free two-day shipping (this might be delayed due to the current COVID-19 outbreak though), video streaming, and more!
However, if you want to let her try it out before you purchase the subscription, you can sign up for a free trial here.
2. Video Subscription Services
Now would also a perfect time to sit and watch a good movie or show. So you can purchase a video streaming service for your mom (like Hulu, Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO NOW, etc.).
3. Grocery Delivery Service (such as Instacart)
Another gift that your mom might love is a subscription to a grocery delivery service. Personally, I think this is a great idea for moms (especially those who are slightly older) so that they aren’t at a high risk of catching the virus.
Some popular services are Instacart, Shipt, and AmazonFresh.
4. Scentbird
If your mom loves perfume, get her a subscription to Scentbird. By purchasing this service, your mom can access designer brand perfume samples for a fraction of the cost.
5. FabFitFun
If your mom enjoys mystery, you might consider getting starting her with a FabFitFun subscription. She’ll never know what products she might get in her box.
DIYs
6. Bake Some Cookies
A DIY gift that you can do is bake cookies (or some other sweets that your mom likes). Package the cookies nicely (with ribbons or bows) and viola! You now have a gift fit for anyone with a sweet tooth!
7. Make A Card
If you’re also unsure what to do for the holiday, create a card for your mom. Just remember to write from the heart, and your mom will have a gift to treasure forever!
8. Take A Picture
Most smartphones these days have excellent cameras. So, why not have your own photoshoot and take a nice picture of yourself (or your family) and send the printed picture to your mom. And to really spruce it up, you can frame the picture.
9. Plant A Seed
For this DIY, you’ll need seeds (any type), potting soil, a plant pot, tags/labels, and a marker.
Just plant the seed(s) and add a tag to the pot with the phrase “As this seed grows, so will our love”. However, if you have another phrase in mind, feel free to use that one instead.
10. Write A Poem
If you’re great with poems, consider writing one for your mom. And to bring it up a notch, consider creating a printed version of it and framing it.
11.Compose A Song
If you happen to be gifted with singing, composing music, playing an instrument, or writing lyrics you might consider creating a song for your mom. And if you want to make it extra fancy, you can frame the lyrics to the song and a copy of the music (whether that’s by creating a digital file or placing it on a CD).
12. Make An Art Piece
If you’re great at art, you might consider creating an art piece for your mom. And like I said earlier, you can make your gift more classy by framing the piece.
13. Make A Meal
If you can cook decently, try creating your mom’s favorite meal.
14. Create A Gift Basket
Try making a gift basket if you are having trouble thinking of a gift for your mom. And you don’t have to stick to the typical spa/bath set basket either.
For example, if your mom likes tea, create a basket filled with her favorite teas. If she loves makeup, create a makeup basket. And if she likes to watch movies, create a movie day gift basket.
Happy Mother’s Day!
