Internships are one of several ways to gain work experience (besides volunteering, working, etc.). However, compared to the other two experiences, these opportunities can be far more valuable because of their flexibility and other benefits. And these opportunities have only gotten more flexible over time due to an increase in online internships.
So, if you’re interested in learning more about internships and some online opportunities that are available, keep on reading.
What Is An Internship?
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, an internship is
a period of time during which someone works for a company or organization in order to get experience of a particular type of work

And, although companies offer great internships to find new talent for their business, not all experiences are alike (or even the most ideal for some potential interns). For example, some people want internships for the summer because it would allow them to work when their schedule is clearer. But other people might prefer fall internships. They might also prefer paid internships over unpaid positions.
But either way, it’s a win-win situation for interns because they can gain many benefits from the experience. Internships can help:
- Improve Your Resume (Ex: increase work experience, learn new skills, etc.)
- Boost Your Career (Ex: make new connections, increase chances of job offers with the company, etc.)
- Eliminate Job/Careers That You Aren’t Interested In
