If you haven’t read the other post that I have in the “Jobs For A New Grad” Series, you might be wondering why this is such a big deal. And, the short answer is that I have been in your shoes before. So, I understand the struggle that you might be facing all too well.
You are bombarded with so many opportunities every single day. However, the task of wading through job descriptions can get a little overwhelming and exhausting. So, I did want to share more opportunities that were new grad friendly that you might be able to apply for. Please see below for more information about this amazing job opportunity for not only recent graduates but also individuals who have been looking for a job as a software engineer.
ABOUT THE COMPANY OFFERING A JOB FOR NEW GRADS
TikTok is an online social media platform where individuals can both share and interact with short-form video content. Although TikTok is one of the newer platforms on the scene, it has kept pace with established platforms like Facebook and Instagram and has impacted the social media world in a huge way. As many other companies have gone on to adopt their short form model.
The largest demographic for this platform are individuals who range in age from their late teens up through their early thirties. So, it’s only fitting that the company has opportunities for those in that age range as well.
What does a software engineer do?
The lines between a software engineer, software developer, and computer engineer can get a little confusing since they do share many similar tasks and sound nearly identical. Which probably has you wondering, “What does a software engineer do?”
So, I looked for more information to see what someone in the industry had to say about what it’s like to be a software engineer. I came across the article, “Day in the Life of a Software Engineer“, which details what an average day would look like.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of a software engineer consist of:

- Troubleshooting problems with software
Please make sure to check out Audrey’s post if you would like to learn more about what goes on in the life of an engineer. She also interviewed Sergii Zhuravel, a professional in the IT industry, who provides more insight into what a career as a software engineer looks like for him.
