We have all been affected by the recent coronavirus outbreak and have had to change how we do many things in life. One of those things is socializing. Normally, during this time, people would be going to school, working, or just hanging out with their friends somewhere. However, we are all in the same boat when it comes to social distancing. So, it can be hard to find out what to do during this time. However, I have a list of 8 things that you can do while you continue social distancing.
Take Online Courses
One of the things that you can do to help your career and personal development is to take online courses. This would be a good thing to do during this time because it will look great on your resume and to your employers. Also, you could learn new skills that may help you with your hobbies (like drawing) or even with something that you may want to do in the future (like starting a business).
If you want to start free online courses, check out these sites:
- Alison Courses
- Skillshare (you can get 3 free months of their premium service if you go through my link here)
Exercise
Another thing that would be best to do during this time is exercising. Since there really isn’t anything to do at the moment, now would be the perfect time to get fit. So, be productive and create a workout schedule, stop lazing about, and start exercising.
And if you’re making the excuse of not being able to make it to the gym, there are plenty of exercise videos available online that you can do with little to no equipment. Here is a list of exercise channels that you can access for free.
Clean
Remember when you said that you were going to clean out the garage? Well now is the prime time to do it. So, you can organize, clean, and reorganize to your heart’s content.
And remember, it is spring cleaning season. So, go through your house, find items that you no longer want, and either donate or sale them. And if the donation centers near you are not accepting contributions at the moment, you can set your items aside and donate them later.
Learn A New Skill
If you have a lot of time on your hands, try learning a new skill. Some things that you can try learning is:
How To Play A Musical Instrument
A New Language
How To Draw
How To Bake/Cook
Read
Another thing that you can do is read. And I don’t mean reading a blog or magazine, but reading an actual book. Whether it’s long, short, fiction, or non-fiction, it’s up to you. But by just reading a book, you can be entertained, learn, and become less stressed.
And if you don’t already have books at home, check and see if your library allows you to check out eBooks online. My library uses Overdrive, and I can check out up to 6 eBooks for 14 days each. And the best thing about it is that the service is completely free, you can read the books or listen to the audiobooks offline, and, if you do not finish reading/listening to your books on time, you can easily check them out again.
Talk To A Loved One
I know that we all get busy and sometimes have trouble staying in contact with our loved ones, so now would be the perfect time to talk with them. So, call your parents, grandparents, friends, etc. and spend some time talking to them, asking about what has been happening in their life, and just reconnecting with them. You never know how much this will make their day.
Follow Your Passion
If you were always interested in something, but never tried it, now would be the time to do so. For instance, if you want to write a book…create it. And if you want to dance, try finding some lessons online. If you always wanted to create something, make a draft or blueprint for it. And if you want to create a business, start working on the business plan for it. You have nothing but time on your hands to work on it.
So, don’t let this time limit you, but push you further.
Relax
If you are usually really busy, and this is the first time that you have had free time in a while, now would be a good time to take a breather and relax. For instance, if you missed a lot of your favorite TV shows, catch up and binge watch them. And if you have been skipping out on sleep for work or school, try sleeping in for a couple hours every morning. Or, if you have been very tense lately, have a spa day.
So, take a break, enjoy yourself, and relax.
